The NimBinChickens project is a community-run plastics recycling program, based at the Nimbin Showground, with much-appreciated support from 7 Sibley St, the Nimbin Sustainability Hub. A group of us volunteer a few hours each week to clean, sort, and remould bits of coloured plastic – mostly bottle lids – into useful items for our local community.
Currently, we are making sturdy park benches to scatter around Nimbin, providing a place for people to sit and rest, and a nice little pop of colour in unusual places.
We would love your support, whether you want to keep your bits of plastic for us, or would like to come and work with the big extruders. It’s good fun, and you get to feel really good about how much plastics you’ve saved our environment from!
