Training and Skills Development

The processes and systems used by Recovery Instinct are highly refined and specialised, however, in most cases, extremely simple and low cost. This makes our methods particularly suitable for those just entering the sustainability industry, as there is minimal up-front outlay with near-immediate rewards. We are now being offered more work than we can complete alone, and thus are seeking to train more people in our methods, to help provide the human resources required to bring Nature back to balance.

We do not do “easy” work. Our jobs usually involve 3-6 hour days of physical labour in demanding conditions – often 30°C+ days with high humidity and direct sunshine. Significant physical fitness and agility is an advantage, as many of our jobs involve lots of walking, dragging heavy branches, chopping, slashing, and scrambling up slopes and down gullys to ensure we find all the target items, whether that be weeds or rubbish. One big treasure hunt, with mystery treasures hiding everywhere!

The rewards? Ability to operate as a sole trader in the recycling and landcare industries, which provide ample private work opportunities across the continent. The privilege of helping regenerate some of the most beautiful areas in the world, many of which are hidden from public knowledge and protected by other environmentally conscious individuals. Once you have the skills, you are welcome to set off on your own and earn wages at any rate you choose, or you can continue working alongside us to provide affordable, effective land recovery services to our local community. If you complete a TAFE land management course at the same time (heavily subsidised and often free, for those receiving income support), you will gain the required qualifications to work for councils and other large organisations, if you choose.

School leavers and those without regular work experience are encouraged to apply, along with those who may only have one or two days available per week. We believe in providing equal opportunities to all. Trainees will be offered 1-2 weeks of paid trial if accepted, to ascertain whether they are physically capable of handling the work and conditions. All training shifts will be in NSW Northern Rivers (Nimbin based) unless otherwise specified.

To apply, please send a message via our contact page with your name, contact details, and a brief introduction about yourself. We will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
